The Lesser Sunda Islands also known as Nusa Tenggara is located on the  southern areas of Indonesia. It is administered into three main areas,  namely West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and Bali.
The West  Nusa Tenggara consists of the Wallace line which marks the transition  between the falora and fauna of the western and eastern Indonesia that  encompasses the Lombok and Sumbawa islands. the northern part of the  Lombok islands are filled with tall trees and plants that resides among  the many mountains here. on the opposite side, the southern part is  mainly savanna where one can find various tropically found animals. in  this context, there are also sandy beaches in around Lombok. The people  here are known as the Sasaks who are predominantly muslims. It is said  that ‘you can see Bali from Lombok, but not Lombok from Bali’. Visiting  Lombok though, one should look for the hand-woven crafts.
Over  at the East Nusa Tenggara, there are a big chain of volcanoes and covers  a little over 550 islands that are divided into three main parts known  as Sumba, Timor and Flores. The arid landscape of the East and South of   Nusa Tenggara is the ensuing result of hot and dry winds coming in  through from Australia. Flores is actually the Portuguese word for  flower and it clearly epitomizes the natural beauty here that consists  of its flowers in display. Sumbawa and Timor on the other hand are made  up of predominantly of mountains and volcanoes. Sumba on the other hand  is a Sandal wood island. Here is where the textile ‘ikat’ is most  dominant.
