The island of Kalimantan is located on the Borneo island. It is divided into four different parts, namely West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.

West Kalimantan
Pontianak is one of the busiest city in around this area. Founded by Sharif Abdul Rahman of Saudi Arabia during the 1700s, the economic hub here includes a learning institution and a gigantic sports stadium. The Kapuas is the longest stream here. covering an area of over 140 thousand square kilometers, West Kalimantan boasts of a wide variety of minerals and stones. At this side of the Kalimantan island are the local ethnic Dayaks which are also found in around neighboring Malaysian state Sarawak.

Central Borneo
Central Borneo on the other hand is the biggest district around here where it is made up primarily of the jungles. Kalimantan is well known for this and it is very difficult to get around, the northern area of Central Kalimantan is very mountainous and is almost impossible to reach. While a lot of this province are made up of trees and plants.

South Kalimantan
South Kalimantan is divided into 2 district regions via the Meratus mountains. Here is where the traditions and culture of the ethnic groups are most prominent. Southern Kalimantan is filled with exquisite traditional and commercial handicrafts. The arts are very well represented here via their dance, performance and cultural events. The province of Banjarmasin is the capital of the southern part of this island which is nearby the Barito River mouth.

East Kalimantan
Over at the other side, East Kalimantan is a major producer of oil and timber. This is where the country is very rich with these resources. Ethnic groups here stay in long houses known as the Lamin or the Umaq Daru. Known as the Iban, Banuag and Punan are the names of the people here, most of which can be found in Sarawak as well.
