Java Island

Java island is the most densely populated island in Indonesia, hosting 120 million people. The fifth largest island here makes up more than 60% of the entire Indonesian population. Java island is also the most populated island in the world, it also houses the Indonesia’s capital city, Jakarta which by itself has more than 8 million. Java is divided into 4 different sections, East Java which houses the Surabaya town, Central Java that hosts Semarang, West Java, that hosues Bandung and Banten, capitalized by Serang.

Attractions
Java is well known for its various city and cultural attractions. Bandung for instance has always been famous for its resorts, night life and shopping attractions. The city of Cirebon is known for its historical destinations. Bogor used to be the summer capital for the Dutch due to its natural flora and fauna. The port city of Semarang consists of various museums and ancient architecture that one could appreciate Depok is the University town while Surabaya is Indonesia’s second biggest city after Jakarta. Jakarta, being the capital of the country is always busy and is the economic center. Solo is famous for its culture and particularly special for its Batik attractions. Yogtakarta is where one can appreciate Javanese culture at its best.

Most airlines fly into Java via it’s the Jakarta International Airport. Budget airlines tend to use the domestic airports in Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya and Yogtakarta.

In Java island, traveling by land is the best way but one has to succumb to the often overcrowded roads and traffic jams along the way. In Java island, Jakarta is connected to other parts of the island via its train network.
