How much cigarettes and booze can you bring into Indonesia and other related information
If you are travelling into Indonesia, there are several things you must know so that there would be no problems at the entry points. We have previously provided a brief introduction on the visa that you will need. This will look into other issues.
Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages
When entering Indonesia, you must not carry more than 2 liters of alcoholic drinks. In terms of cigarettes, you are only allowed up to 200 cigarettes (or 1 carton) or 50 cigars. Perfume is not too strict but you cannot carry too many new bottles of fragrances. Other products include electronic items like photography equipment, recorders and such, which you would need to declare them at the customs checkpoint. The usual arms and ammunition and narcotics are strictly prohibited while you are also not allowed to bring in publications in Chinese characters and Chinese medicine.
If you want to bring in transceivers and film equipments, you would need to apply for advance approval.

Service tax and tips
Most hotels would add an additional 10% service charge so it is not mandatory for you to give tips. However, the common practice here is that tipping for hotels would be about 5 to 10% while at the airport, porters who carry your bags would be expecting some tips too. At the end of the day, it is up to your discretion so if you are satisfied with the services, you can give more.
