October13

One of the most historical monuments in Indonesia and in the world is Borobudur Temple. It is located in the heart of Central Java and is one of the most popular tourists attractions in the country. In fact, it is one of the trademarks for anyone who is visiting Java and loves history. The World Heritage structure is made up of 6 square platforms and comes with more than 2,000 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues.

You will have to pay USD15 for entry tickets while students need only pay USD8 for entry into the compound. It is open from 6am to 5pm daily and usually visitors will come here early in the morning to witness the sunrise amidst the majestic structure. Once here you would also want to climb the pyramids which might be difficult and challenging but very satisfying. It has since gone through various restoration projects as Borobudur dates back to the 8th century. Where this is concerned, no confirmed report on why it was built but it was most likely believed to be a religious site. So it is essential that you mind your manners when you are at the vicinity and do not be overly noisy to enjoy this age-old ancient civilization structure.
